- The Kelowna Waldorf School believes in the idea that Waldorf education should be accessible to all families who wish it for its own values, regardless of their economic status. We demonstrate our commitment to this ideal through our Accessible to All (ATA) Tuition Adjustment Program, which ensures that the acceptance of a child into our school does not depend on the financial resources of the child's family.
- If a family is unable to meet the tuition fee structure, they may apply for a tuition adjustment by submitting an adjustment application and meeting with two members of our Tuition Adjustment Committee. During this meeting, the group shares a "conversation" where both the school's history and financial picture, as well as the family's history and financial picture is outlined. Each stretches to meet the needs of the other to arrive at a conscious, consensual, contracted tuition contribution.
- Our Tuition Adjustment Program embodies the school's commitment to enter into relationship with members of our community and become aware of the needs and gifts of each member. We view these adjusted tuitions as a contribution to the financial wellbeing of the school, rather than a reduction in income. The program does not lessen our strong sense of fiscal responsibility. On the contrary, it requires thorough budget preparation and ongoing review to ensure continuous progress and the achievement of goals based on the values and ideals of Waldorf education.
- To participate in the Tuition Adjustment Program, families are expected to hold Waldorf education high on their list of financial priorities. An adjustment is not intended to support discretionary items such as a second home, investment portfolios, debt-free status, or large amounts of home equity. Having any of these situations does not preclude an adjustment but should be taken into consideration in relation to the school's needs.
